All about apple cider vinegar

Our anchestors already knew the value of apple cider vinegar and its benefits for our overall health. I personally learned to love it especially due to my gut and skin issues. There is hardly a day I do not use apple cider vinegar in any form.

Health benefits of apple cider vinegar

 

  • it may improve insulin sensitivity

Scientists found that that any kind of vinegar added to a starchy meal reduced the load of the starch on the bloodstream, preventing drastic insulin spikes often seen after this kind of meal. This does not apply to fatty or protein-based meals, though.

  • it may boost weight loss

Apple cider vinegar can help with weight loss because it acts as an appetite suppressor, control blood sugar levels, prevents fat accumulation and stimulates your metabolism and it detoxifies your body.

  • it is great for skin and hair

Apple cider vinegar is great for those acne-sufferers out there. It helps to get rid of blemishes and dries out acne. If used as a hair treatment, it makes your hair appear
shinier and healthier and your hair will be less prone to tangling.

  • it kills bacteria

Whether using it as a antibacterial treatment for acne or you use it for wound cleaning like Hippocrates over two thousand years ago.

Apart from those, there are a lot of other health benefits of apple cider vinegar which have not been tested on humans yet, only in animal studies.

How I use apple cider vinegar

 

  • facial water

I love to mix some apple cider vinegar and water on a wattepad and treat my skin with it after washing the sweat from my workouts away. Since doing this my acne improved a lot and I don’t get those small pimples on my hairline anymore.

  • hair rinse

After shampooing and rinsing my hair, I mix 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar and water into an old shampoo bottle. Then I pour the rinse over my entire scalp (leaning back), allowing this mixture to run through my hair. I let the mixture sit for about 2 minutes and then rinse throughly. But be careful to avoid contact with your eyes – it really burns when getting apple cider vinegar into your eyes!

  • salad dressing

I almost always choose apple cider vinegar when it comes to making a salad dressing. My plain basic go to recipe is mixing apple cider vinegar with olive oil, salt, pepper, herbs, lemon peel and a splash of water.

  • bone broth

Adding apple cider vinegar to your bone broth when cooking helps to pull calcium and other minerals from the bones as it slowly simmers on the stove top.

  • drink

A very common way to consume apple cider vinegar, especially amongst health and fitness gurus, is drinking it first things in the morning on an empty stomach. Mixing 1-2 tablespoons vinegar with some water and having it as a morning shot is one way to have it. As I mentioned above or in my gut healing post, you can also have a apple cider vinegar before every meal to help digestion.

  • baking

Because apple cider vinegar reacts with baking soda, I always add a splash of vinegar to my dough. Together with baking powder and baking soda you get a very fluffy dough!

If you want to add apple cider vinegar to your daily routine, you should do some research before buying some at the store. The best choice when you are looking for apple cider vinegar* is the one raw unprocessesed and still contains the mother.
